Pediatric Diabetes: Clinical Pearls

Objectives:

Upon completion of this (virtual lecture/presentation), participants should be able to

• Describe various types of pediatric diabetes in the context of their presenting signs & symptoms as well as the underlying pathophysiology
• List the diagnostic criteria for type 1 versus type 2 diabetes
• Identify the association of other autoimmune endocrine diseases with type 1 diabetes
• Differentiate between pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapy options available to manage pediatric diabetes
• Recognize both short and long term complications associated with uncontrolled diabetes and the screening guidelines
