Call for 2020-2021 Houston Chapter Board Nominations

It is time to elect our 2020-2021 Houston NAPNAP board members! If you have been looking for an opportunity to get more involved and have a part in planning our chapter events and activities, please consider joining our board. There is one elected position (President-elect) and two appointed Board member positions open (community chair and student liaison). The descriptions are below. Elected positions are 2-year terms and appointed positions are 1-year terms of service. You are eligible to run for any position you have not held within the prior 6 years. 

Please submit interest NO LATER THAN April 5; interest statements will be distributed on April 19th, voting opens May 3rd and will be open until May 15th at 5 pm. New officers will be notified prior to the May meeting and announced to the chapter at the May membership meeting. Terms begin July 2019.

ELECTED POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

President-elect (1 position; 1 year as president-elect, 1 year as President, and 1 year as past president)

The president-elect shall become familiar with the duties of the president and shall automatically succeed to the presidency at the conclusion of the president's term of office. The president-elect shall perform the duties of the office in the absence of the president or in the case of inability to act. When so acting, the president-elect shall have all powers of, and be subject to all the restrictions, placed upon the president, and shall perform such other duties as the members of the Executive Board may specifically prescribe.

President (job description only)

 The president shall be the principal chief elected officer of the chapter and shall, in general, supervise and control all of the administrative matters and business affairs of the chapter. The president shall implement policy established by the members of the Executive Board. The President shall preside at all meetings; execute all conveyances, notes, contracts, or other instruments authorized by the members; appoint all committees and chairpersons as provided in these bylaws; serve as an ex-officio member of all standing committees; and perform and discharge all duties incident to the office of the president and such other duties as may be assigned by the members of the Executive Board.

 Eligibility for this position includes the following: 

  • Must be recognized as a Nurse Practitioner by the Texas State Board of Nursing and be in good standing 
  • Active membership within NAPNAP National & local chapter
  • Have recently attended at least 3 meetings within the last 6 months 
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and community service involvement through current or prior board experience at NAPNAP, affiliated associations/committees or other organizations.  

APPOINTED POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

Community Co-Chair (1 position; 1-year term) 

 The Community Outreach chair will plan and coordinate charitable and community events for the membership of the chapter to engage and educate the community about HAC, pediatric nurse practitioners, NAPNAP organization and its goals. Activities may include item donation, time donation or monetary donation.

Student Liaison (1 position; 1-year term)

The student liaison position is an appointed position. The student liaison will serve as a representative for NP students and facilitate communication between students and the NAPNAP organization. The student liaison chair is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of the mentorship program and will assist the membership chairs with the recruitment of APRN students to become active members of NAPNAP. The position does not need to be a student.
