Posted almost 5 years ago by Bonnie Lanternier
Mili Vakharia is a family nurse practitioner with more than 15 years of pediatric nursing experience. She obtained her BSN from Houston Baptist University with Cum Laude and began her nursing career at Texas Children’s Hospital in 2007 as a critical care registered nurse. To broaden her horizons, she pursued a higher level of education from the University of Texas Health Science Center. In 2012, she graduated with a family nurse practitioner degree and joined the advanced practice provider (APP) team at Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation department at Texas Children’s Hospital.
Given her clinical interest in pediatric patients with chronic medical conditions, she transitioned to diabetes and endocrinology section at the same institution in 2019. As a clinical instructor for Baylor College of Medicine, she currently manages patients with pediatric diabetes and associated endocrine conditions. She has given numerous presentations on a variety of children’s health topics at local and national conferences including NAPNAP.
She strongly feels that it is a privilege and utmost duty to provide quality care and support for any child - a parent’s most valuable asset.
She served the Houston chapter NAPNAP board since 2018 while completing the presidential term in July 2020. She is currently the Immediate Past-President of Houston NAPNAP for the year 2020 – 2021. At the time of her service as President-elect, she was also part of the steering committee for 2019 Houston NAPNAP 5K walk/run to stop human trafficking. During her presidential term, the organization attained continuing education provider accreditation, established the Houston NAPNAP nurse practitioner scholarship program, and hosted many community events including COVID relief efforts.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children, ages 5 and 7 years old.
