Houston Chapter pulls together to provide donations for Hurricane Ida families

With less than a few days’ notice, the Houston Area Chapter members pulled together to donate money and much needed supplies for Hurricane Ida families in Louisiana. Boxes of diapers, hygiene items, water, cleaning supplies, wipes and coloring books were collected. Many items were purchased from monies donated from the local membership, whereas other members brought supplies they purchased and from their coworkers. In addition, a three-hundred-and-fifty-dollar check was presented to the Relief Gang from the Houston Area Chapter of NAPNAP.  The Relief Gang is a volunteer organization created by Houston Hip-Hop artist and philanthropist, Trae Tha Truth and Houston DJ and record producer DJ Mr. Rogers after Hurricane Harvey. The group is known for getting the much needed supplies to the disaster victims quickly. They have been accepting donations and then driving the supplies to Louisiana for distribution. Several members of the Board brought supplies and met at Whitmeyer's Distilling company which has been the central collection site for the Relief Gang's Hurricane Ida donations. An interesting aside is that the Distilling company made hundreds of bottles of hand sanitizers and donated them to Texas Children's Hospital at the beginning of the pandemic.
