HAC NAPNAP- Student Scholarship 2024 Application Now Available

On behalf of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Houston Area Chapter, we are pleased to offer two scholarships this year of $1000 each to two exemplar students enrolled in either a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) program. We would like to recognize students for their hard work, perseverance, and dedication to Advanced Practice Nursing excellence. These scholarships serve as our chapter’s way of promoting both nurse practitioner education and the profession of Advanced Practice Nursing. Funds will be paid directly to the recipient and can be utilized for books, tuition, or other college fees.  Please note that the scholarship award will be reviewed and determined annually. 

The scholarship eligibility includes all the following requirements:

• Currently enrolled in a MSN (FNP, PC-PNP, AC-PNP, NNP program only), DNP or PhD program
• Completed at least 1 year in either of the above-mentioned programs
• Grade point average (GPA) equivalent minimum 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
• Personal Statement addressing the each of the following sections (600 – 800-word max):
  • Pediatric Focus: Clearly articulates desire and motivation for serving the pediatric community.
  • Advanced Practice and/or Doctoral Education: Clearly articulates plan for advanced practice and/or doctoral education.
  • Advanced Practice Nursing Career: Clearly articulates goals and aspirations for advanced practice and/or doctoral nursing career.
  • Community Service: Demonstrates service to the community (include details/ examples of service provided)
  • Scholarly Activity: Demonstrates participation and dedication to scholarly activities in advanced practice such as education, quality improvement, research, etc. (include details/ examples of scholarly activities). May also include any professional awards received for scholarly activities in nursing/ healthcare).
  • Funds Plan: Clearly articulates plan/ use of scholarship funds
  • Should be well-written with clear personal voice and ideas. No spelling errors.
• Letter of Recommendation for Scholarship from a Nursing School Professor (1 in total)
• NAPNAP Houston Chapter membership is highly preferred
• First time scholarship recipient only! Any previous award winners are ineligible to reapply.
• Application guidelines should be followed and complete (including word limit for personal statement)
• NAPNAP Houston Area Chapter Board Members are NOT eligible to apply

Deadline for the scholarship application is April 28th, 2024.  We plan to announce the winners in May 2024.
