Houston Area Chapter NAPNAP 2025-2026 Elections
Dear Chapter Members,
I am excited to announce that it is time to elect our 2025-2026 Houston Area Chapter NAPNAP Board Members. If you have been looking for an opportunity to get more involved and participate in planning our chapter events and activities, please consider joining our board. For the year 2025-2026, we are seeking members for the following positions:
Elected positions:
- President-elect
- Treasurer
Appointed positions:
- 1 Program/ CE Co-Chair
- 1 Community Co-Chair
- 1 Student Liaison- Board Member
- 1 Student Liaison-Student position
- 2 Legislative Co-Chairs
Please review the position descriptions below. You can run for any position you have not held within the prior six consecutive years—additional eligibility requirements for all elected positions.
Elected officers will be chosen by the chapter's majority vote, and Appointed officers will be chosen by the executive committee's score and majority vote. If additional information is needed, the board may request an interview.
Interested members will submit the required information to the nominations chair at (houstonelectionsnapnap@gmail.com) to be considered for the position by May 16, 2025. Due to a strict timeline, late applications will not be accepted.
Election Timeline:
- Interest statements for elected positions will be distributed to the chapter on May 16, 2025.
- The Executive Board will review interest statements for appointed positions on May 17-18, 2025 .
- Chapter Membership Voting for Elected Positions opens May 19- May 23, 2025.
- Current Executive Board Voting for Appointed Positions will occur on May 24, 2025.
Notification Timeline:
- Elected & Appointed officers will be notified individually between May 25, 2025.
- Elected & Appointed officers will be announced to the chapter by email/ ENP announcement on May 26, 2025.
- Board Transition Retreat (in person event for incoming and outgoing officers) June 14, 2025, 10am- 3pm. (HIGHLY RECOMMEND ATTENDING)
- New terms begin July 1, 2024.

Elected Positions:
President-elect
The president-elect shall become familiar with the duties of the president and shall automatically succeed to the presidency at the conclusion of the president's term of office. The president-elect shall perform the duties of the office in the absence of the president or in the case of inability to act. When so acting, the president-elect shall have all powers of, and be subject to all the restrictions, placed upon the president, and shall perform such other duties as the members of the Executive Board may specifically prescribe.
Eligibility for this position includes the following:
- Must be recognized as a Nurse Practitioner by the Texas State Board of Nursing and be in good standing
- Active membership within NAPNAP National & local chapter
- Demonstrate leadership skills and community service involvement through current or prior board experience at NAPNAP, affiliated associations/committees or other organizations.
President
The president shall be the principal chief elected officer of the chapter and shall, in general, supervise and control all of the administrative matters and business affairs of the chapter. The president shall implement policy established by the members of the Executive Board. The President shall preside at all meetings; execute all conveyances, notes, contracts, or other instruments authorized by the members; appoint all committees and chairpersons as provided in these bylaws; serve as an ex-officio member of all standing committees; and perform and discharge all duties incident to the office of the president and such other duties as may be assigned by the members of the Executive Board.
Treasurer
The Treasurer shall have charge and custody of and be responsible for all funds and securities of the chapter; receive and give receipts for all monies due and payable to the chapter from any source whatsoever, deposit all monies in the name of the chapter in banks or other depositories as shall be decided by the Executive Board; account for and record all financial transactions by the chapter; prepare and render an annual report to the chapter and to NAPNAP at the last regular meeting of each term year and whenever requested by NAPNAP National Office. Comply with an annual audit/review of financial records of the chapter in such a manner as directed by NAPNAP and perform such other duties as may be assigned by the members of the Executive Board.
Appointed Positions:
Program/ CE Co-chair
The Program/CE chair position is an appointed position and may be a co-chair position dependent upon the needs of the chapter. The Program/CE chair plans and coordinates the continuing education conference for the chapter through the 2-year term. The chair presides over the program committee and facilitates the logistics of the event including location, registration, speaker management, food/beverage, audio/visual and marketing/promotion of the programs. The Program/CE chair works in coordination with the chapter officers and membership to determine the educational needs of the chapter. The Program/CE chair is responsible for organizing chapter monthly dinner meetings and chapter educational opportunities, completing all required documentation for CE application every 3 years, and coordinating chapter educational conference every 2 year.
Community Co-Chair
The Community chair position is an appointed position and may be a co-chair position depending on the needs of the chapter. The Community Outreach chair will plan and coordinate charitable and community events for the membership of the chapter to engage and educate the community about HAC, pediatric nurse practitioners, NAPNAP organization and its goals. Activities may include item donation, time donation or monetary donation.
Legislative Co-Chair
The Legislative chair is an appointed position. The Legislative Chair manages advocacy efforts for the chapter through the year. These efforts must follow NAPNAP's national health policy agenda, as well as NAPNAP's strategic plan. The chair keeps abreast of child health and advanced practicing nursing legislation and regulation within the state, whether through direct monitoring or collaborating with key groups with monitoring capabilities. He/she works closely with other board officers to mobilize chapter members to advocate on local or state issues in a timely manner.
Student Liaison- Chair BOARD MEMBER
The student liaison position is an appointed position. The student liaison will serve as a representative for NP students and facilitate communication between students and NAPNAP organization. The student liaison chair is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of the mentorship program and will assist the membership chairs with recruitment of APRN students to become active members of NAPNAP. The position does not need to be a student.
Student Liaison- Co-Chair Student Member
The student liaison co-chair student position is an appointed position. The student liaison co-chair will assist the chair with activities for NP students and facilitate communication between students and the Houston NAPNAP organization. The student liaison co-chair is responsible for assisting with the coordination and maintenance of the mentorship program and will assist the membership chairs with recruitment of APRN students to become active members of NAPNAP. The position DOES need to be a student.
